ABOUT ME

Hello my name is Damian Glaister, Gaming has been a big part of my life, Starting it off was my nan when she got me the original Nintendo, and from then I was hooked, trying all different consoles till im now on PC, It's not till I got older I realised I wanted to share this passion I had with video games with others in the world, I started late but I found out about gaming conventions and social media interactions with other gamers, realising I want to be within a gaming Community.

REALISING WHERE I WANT TO BE

Following trips to various Gaming conventions to see my favourite games and developers, getting to speak to many community members and game developers, I started to want to become more than just a community member, seeing the buzz behind a new game release, getting the feel of what others just thought of that demo we have just played wanted me to get more involved and be a bridge between the community and the developers,

BECOMING A UBISOFT STAR PLAYER

a Dream Come True

What can I say... becoming a Ubisoft StarPlayer was probably one of the best surprises of my life, I still remember when I got the email at work, I went all shaky with excitement, I just couldn't believe this dream was becoming true, the whole experience from start to finish was out of this world, I used to stay up late watching streams of E3 thinking I wish I could go there, now I had to pinch myself knowing I was heading to e3 in Los Angeles for real.
but again one of my favourite parts of being in that environment was interacting with the other star players from many different countries sharing the same passion for our favourite games, being able to talk face to face with developers discussing all the processes that went into making their games they got on at the show, giving your feedback and sharing ideas, my highlight of the trip was meeting Yves Guillemot able to ask him a question and shake his hand and thank him personally for this experience.
all in all, I will never forget this and wish could re-live this experience over and over.

BECOMING A PART OF DELTA COMPANY

My love for this franchise dates back to its roots before the original came out in 2001, I used to play the original Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six in 1998 so when Ghost Recon came out I was already in love with the Clancy universe, watching the franchise grow and grow over the years has been exciting to witness, with the latest instalment Ghost Recon Breakpoint, there was an announcement at E3 2019 about Delta Company, It was my chance to be able to show my level of commitment and dedication to the franchise, lucky enough I managed to be able to join this core group of players that showed so much passion for Ghost Recon,
we hit the ground running by giving our feedback to the development team, being able to promote and support Breakpoint by heading to Gamescom, interacting with other fans getting their thoughts, being able to talk to the development team face to face, enabling us to do giveaways to our communities,
with the future of Delta Company, I will still like to be involved, empower and make this community shine.

BEING ON STAGE AT UBISOFT EXPERIENCE

After I got to go to Gamescom I travelled to Birmingham to go to the first Ubisoft Experience, for a Ubisoft mega fan it was a dream come true, so many Ubisoft showcased in one place was pure bliss (no the division pun intended) there were many highlights I took for this experience, getting to meet Matthew Corso, development director for the Clancy IP, Richard Dansky, central Clancy writer and custodian of the Clancy brands, Lauren Stone, a writer who worked on Rainbow Six Siege, The Division, working with Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy IP team, With also many members from Ubisoft Reflections Studio.

But the scariest thing I managed to do was go on stage with my fellow delta member Hugo and Laura Cordrey Community Developer on Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Talking about the game, and public speaking was so nerve-racking for me that it was well out of my comfort zone, but with support from people around me, I managed to break that fear and stand up there with my heart pounding, in the end, it was worth it and im glad I managed to do to be able to get my thoughts across to the community.

JOINING THE MENTORS GUILD

It all started with an email in 2020, Inviting me to apply for the Mentors Guild due to continued engagement in Assassins Creed, It was previously a few years ago that me and fellow Mentor Dave Woodward were at GamesCom talking about we would love to be a part of the Mentors Guild.
a few years later we both got accepted into the Guild.
A dream come true. Assassins Creed has been a part of my life for 15 years now and my love for the franchise still grows. It has a fantastic community behind it and with the Mentors Guild hopefully, we can help build on that even more.
I have enjoyed my time as a mentor, Everything from speaking to the development team to chatting with other mentors about ideas and designs, to hearing the community feedback, and being able to do game code giveaways, It has all been exciting to be a part of.

READY TO RIDE WITH M.A.D COLECTIVE IN RIDERS REPUBLIC

Being part of M.A.D Collective was a lot of fun, and the hype build-up for the Riders Republic was great, I was particularly fond of this release due to the fact I actually love to snowboard in real life. The members in the group are a super bunch of people who give some great feedback and they contribute to this game massively.
the game gives off a lot of adrenaline-filled fun vibes
I was grateful for being a part of this group for Season 1

FIRST TIME COSPLAY

I have always been interested in dressing up in costumes for fancy dress parties growing up that I thought about trying my hand at an actual cosplay, I wanted to try to put together a cosplay costume of a game I was into, So an opportunity came up to try out at EGX gaming convention in 2016, I chose to Cosplay as a Division Agent from Tom Clancy's The Division game, I enjoyed collecting every piece of equipment and adding in all the details to match my in-game character, For my first go at cosplaying I was happy with the result. In the future, I would like to be able to do an Assassins Creed Cosplay one day.

IT'S ALL ABOUT GAMING COMMUNITIES

Community is a big part of what makes us enjoy our favourite games, even more, everything from fan art, Cosplay, teaming up in co-op, finding those easter eggs, a particular strategy to beat a game, to make real friends you can relate to, It has it all.
Community is where I feel at home, Interacting with many different people discussing ideas, A game's good and bad points, There have been many different experiences I've had relating to Ubisoft Communities, Metting fellow star players at E3, At Gamescom with an Assassins Creed Community Dinner, At a Ghost Recon Breakpoint Reveal event and a Beta Event being able to get everyone's impressions about the game, to numerous gaming conventions, and general interaction on Social media sites.
